Hit the Lights "Skip School, Start Fights"

The Academy Is... "Fast Times at Barrington High"

This Providence "the Bright Lights EP"

Must be going thru my mid-life crisis early with all this emo music with lyrics about high school. Damned if it ain't catchy and fun as hell, though - I guess SOME kids have good music taste. Plus my Dad was always open minded to new music - must be genetic. Thanks, Pop :D

Steve Bertrand "Pain is a Megaphone"

The Argument "Your New Favorite Band"

The Szuters "Last Band Standing EP". All CJ fans: his debut solo CD just came out on itunes and other major digital music outlets. Really great stuff - stop reading and pick it up. Already bought all the songs myself last year, via the snocap link on his Myspace. Just glad the songs are getting an official release.

Foxboro Hot Tubs - "Stop Drop and Roll". Green Day side project. More "retro"/garage rock than what I usually listen to, which is why I'm getting to it a year late, but definitely a grower. "The Pedestrian" is up there with the best Green Day songs.

Pinwheel - Unreleased pre-Fountains of Wayne demos.

Tinted Windows - "self titled". Supergroup featuring members of Cheap Trick, Fountains of Wayne, Smashing Pumpkins, and Hanson. A Powerpop lover's wet dream 8) For any FOW fan that wanted Adam to write a whole album in the style of "That Thing You Do" or "Stacy's Mom". Haven't been this excited about a new band in awhile. Hopefully this gets GOOD pop music back on the radio. But yeah, whether those bands sound like your cup of tea or not, don't judge until you listen, or you're doing yourself a disservice. Free your mind...

Best of Seven - "self titled". Kinda got into them thru EZN. Also because the singer's name is Shane and I (mistakenly) thought it was THE Shane from Electric Angels/the Loveless  Great stuff, though. Cheap Trick meets Bon Jovi meets Marvelous 3. On the Labour of Love CD, they have a great cover of "Baby Loves You" with Donnie on BGVs.

Teenage Casket Company - "Eat Your Heart Out ep". Anyone in the UK heard of/fans of these guys? Great UK glam-punk band. They call themselves a "punk rock Bon Jovi"...and with world class hooks and melodies, its easy to see why. They have so many favorite bands in common with me, its scary. No wonder they're right up my alley 8) I believe they're related to the Black Mollys as well.

Green Day - "21st Century Breakdown". With their "American Idiot" ambitious music and socially conscious lyrics intact, along with their ever present Beatle-esque melodies, a much needed voice in popular music makes their triumphant return. This album cements their status...they'll be pissing off (and on) the close minded for years to come.

Ok, I know no one reads this thread, but did Tory and Randi just pass up a chance for free self promotion? Really? I know you musicians read this shit in your downtime...which is pretty much all the time ;)

As for everyone else...no comments either? Was it the Bon Jovi comment? Its hip to slag "hairbands" here that outsold EZN, but sorry for having a different opinion than the group and being a traitor to the male species. We can't all prefer Jellyfish ;) ::waits to be crucified...or ignored...again::

Stone Temple Pilots - Stone Temple Pilots
- Not as heavy as No.4 but I like it a lot more than their last studio effort Shangri-La-Di-Da.

Devo - Something for Everybody
- A mixed bag. Some of it is very good like their Freedom of Choice stuff, but some of the cuts are very repetitious.
