CODENAME VITAMIN A

The Vitamin A Project is an attempt to get a Major label to finally take notice of the under appreciated talents of Enuff Znuff.

The band recorded these ten songs (Chip, Donnie, and Ricky), and is currently shopping them around major labels calling the band, "the Roving Gypsies"

I  have spoken to both Chip and Donnie about the future of these songs, Chip says that they are a seperate project not Enuff Znuff. Donnie says that if they are not picked up by a major label they will release them as Enuff Znuff. Time will tell, but one thing is for sure any Enuff znuff fan will instantly fall in love with these tunes.

The songs sound like Enuff znuff though more the mellower side of Seven. They are packed with rich harmonies, and are the most Beatlesq songs yet. Peachfuzz has alot on these great songs. So to learn more here are some additional resources here for you.  the following is a  review of the songs, followed by the lyrics.

A review of Vitamin A by Jeremy of the Yet Another Enuff Znuff page.

As I write this review in November '97, the future of 10 unreleased Enuff Z'Nuff tracks "code-named" Vitamin A is uncertain.  Some of the ten songs I'm about to review will be in the summer '98 release Paraphernalia ("Invisible" is there for sure), others they may be part of a side project not even carrying the "Enuff Z'Nuff" name, and a few may never see the light of day. More important than speculating about the future of these tracks, though, is to do what I've been asked to do with them, which is a track by track review.

There Goes My Heart: My current favorite Enuff Z'Nuff song of all time, which is saying a lot! This song has a kind of instant addictiveness to it and everyone I've played it for seems to like it too. As they should. It's really upbeat, catchy, has clever lyrics, and in a just world this would be a top 10 hit.

All Right: In a word, this song is "Beatles-esque", probably more so than any other Enuff Z'Nuff song to date. That's not to say that the guys are trying to imitate the Beatles now, but this really shows off Chip and Donnie's influences. "All Right" also very catchy and is a strong #2 track. It's a very optimistic sounding song that  I'd also like to see get exposure.

Holiday: This song is my #2 favorite song on the album. What can I say, Vitamin A starts out really strong.  Holiday has a lot of character, and it includes some mildly distorted vocals by Donnie, which sounds very cool. It's possible that Holiday doesn't have the mass appeal of some of the other tracks on the album, but this is definitely Enuff Z'Nuff at their best, in my opinion.

Unemotional: Unemotional slows things down a little bit and  I don't consider it anything too spectacular. The contrast between the "serene" sound of the verses mixed with the somewhat "turbulent" sounding chorus is cool, but something about the song just has me waiting for the rest of the album. Don't get me wrong though, it's still a very good track.

Home Tonight: This song caught me by surprise when I finally paid attention to the lyrics. Chip and Donnie are great storytellers, and "Home Tonight" shows of this talent well, and the song sounds really good too.

How Are You?: A very sweet, mellow track. There aren't very many instruments playing at once in this track, just an acoustic guitar, Donnie's pipes, and a light orchestra, and that's exactly how it should be. I'd really like to see this become a single, it sounds really great and I think it's a track that many people can relate to.

Habit: I didn't much like "Habit" at first, and in fact was pretty ready to give it a negative review. But you know, the more I hear it, the more it grows on me. It's still not a particularly strong track, and it is in my opinion Vitamin A's weakest entry. That by no means makes it a bad song, it's just in great company.

Suicide: This song is very cool. Donnie's emotional vocals combined with the slide guitar and opening gunshot really add to the overall mood. The song's over before you know it too, with a running time of less than 2:30.

All Alone: The strongest element about this song is Donnie's voice. "All Alone" really shows off Donnie's talent and he's never sounded sharper than in this track.

Invisible: This song is pretty unique and has a strong chorus. I don't really like what the song is about though, it kind of ends off Vitamin A with a sense of sadness.

Vitamin A is not a hard rock album, rather it is Enuff Znuff's "poppiest" work yet. The whole "Master Of Pain"-"You're Not Me" metal crowd may be disappointed to hear this, but if they don't give it a listen they will really be missing out. Chronologically speaking, this pop-follow up to Seven makes sense, since Seven was also quite poppy.

Given an opportunity, I really think that this album could amass a following, especially now that the alternative scene seems to be fading. Of course, the big problem to this is one of exposure. It's yet another release through Mayhem (an indie) and they've never been able to
get the attention they deserve through them. The band really needs a someone who can give them a big push so they can land on Letterman and the Howard Stern Show again. I'm sure a lot of the previous fans from the early 90's don't follow the band now because they don't realize the
band's still around and better than ever.

Another big (and radio friendly) plus to Vitamin A is the average track length. Each song is about three minutes long, which is something I find refreshing. It seems to me that too many bands fall in love with their songs and drag out the length to much more than they
need to be. Collectively, the 10 songs on Vitamin A run a little over 30 minutes.

At one time, I thought Vitamin A might even be a concept album, I definitely wouldn't put something like that past the guys, would you? The pieces all seem to fit to me, with the tale being a ten song story about a guy who meets his dream girl, breaks up with her, and has trouble dealing with it. Now that it seems that the songs are being
split up, it must have just been my overactive imagination. Oh well.

So how do I rank Vitamin A in comparison to other Enuff Z'Nuff releases? With the addition of a few more tracks, I could consider this to be the pop equivalent to Strength, my current favorite. The guys are really at the top of their game right now, they've become incredible
songwriters and have really matured musically. Let's just hope someone important is in listening range because I can't think of another band who deserves their shot in the sun more than Enuff Z'Nuff.

 Holiday

Goin on a holiday

I'm heading down to Mexico

Anywhere along the way

Could be somewhere that I should go

Banging on my precious toys

I know that I can meet them there

Gonna make a little noise

Just as soon as I get somewhere

Baby whip those tears from your eyes

You know I'll come shuffling back

I'll be bringin you a little suprise

Yeah when I come shuffling back

There's got to be a better place

Where I can be a millionaire

And I don't have to show my face

cuz it's covered up by my hair

If that's the way it's gonna be

there's really nothing left to say

if anybody ask for me

Tell'em I'm on a holiday

Baby wipe those tears from your eyes

you know I'll come shuffling back

I'll be bringin you a little suprise

yeah when I come shuffling back

If that's the way it's gonna be

there's really nothing left to say

if anybody ask for me

Tell'em I'm on a holiday

Baby whip those tears from your eyes

you know I'll come shuffling back

I'll be bringin you a little suprise

yeah when I come shuffling back

Goin on a holiday

 Unemotional

You looked so dumb I had to laugh

you stand there yelling at a photograph

it reminds you and it brings you down again

and now it seems that you've become a psychopath

he's so hot and she's so unemotional

It's a battle 'til the end

they could never end as friends

He's so hot and she's so unemotional

There was nothing he could do

all the feelings that were through

You Say goodbye to yesterday

and all those nasty things you used to say

You can try and find your smiling face again

so hard to make the feelings want to go away

he's so hot and she's so unemotional

It's a battle 'til the end

they could never end as friends

He's so hot and she's so unemotional

There was nothing he could do

all the feelings that were through

love will always hurt you in the end

and now you look as if she's hurting you again

he's so hot and she's so unemotional

It's a battle till the end

they could never end as friends

He's so hot and she's so unemotional

There was nothing he could do

all the feelings that were through

 Home tonight

if she knew I was here with you I'd be a sad boy

killin what took us years to do, I'm such a bad boy

and all I'll That I know is that I shouldn't be with you

I should be there where my love is true

Take me home

Where I know I'll alright

I'll be gone today but home tonight

I don't care if it was good for you, I gotta leave now

where to do what I should do so you gotta believe now

It's nothing personal

it be me you know

It just isn't worth it all

Cuz I love her so

Take me home

Where I know I'll alright

I'll be gone today but home tonight

if she knew I was here with you I'd be frustrated

killin what took us years to do, I nearly made it

all that I know is that I shouldn't be with you

I should be home where my heart is true

Take me home

Where I know I'll alright

I'll be gone today but home tonight

 HABIT

Watching the Hour Glass

Waiting for time to pass

Inside the grains fall slow

Waiting for yesterday

I wish it would go away

today won't stay or go

Getting older getting colder

Habit so hard to break

So redeeming when I'm dreaming

Habit so Hard to break

Where is my yesterface

It's lost in a yesterplace

my smile, and my ways don't show

Now it's a part of me

It's deep in the heart of me

And I just can't let go

Getting older getting colder

Habit so hard to break

So redeeming when I'm dreaming

Habit so Hard to break

Waiting for yesterday

I wish it would go away

today won't stay or go

Getting older getting colder

Habit so hard to break

So redeeming when I'm dreaming

Habit so Hard to break

 INVISABLE

Where will I go when I die
Will I go under or will I fly
What is waiting behind the door
Is there just darkness or soo much more

These are questions I aks myself
then I put them upon a shelf
and I figure maybe one day
I'll pull the trigger and blow away

Why I'm loving you I'm hating me
and thats the bloody cold reality
I am someone noone else can see
I'm invisable

No solutions and no big breaks
theres just confusion and heart ache
But it don't matter a bit to me
Cuz I ain't feeling what I can't see

Chorus

First verse

ALL ALONE

They said if the Cigerrettess didn't get you alcohol would first.
A little wine and a little brown is the get that got you all submirged
Everybody's got troubles
Just how bad where yours

I know in a sad world it's along way home
I know in a bad world it's along way home
I know in a mad world it's along way home
But you've got to be carryin on

All Alone...

Well I thought as sure as hell
It would be me instead of you
But that only goes to show
the amazing things that we can do

All the people you love.
we all still love you

Chorus
